Fallout 3, A breath of fresh air?
I have to say, Fallout 3 is an amazing game. It is a game that rpg'ers (or people who liked Oblivion) deserve to get. While the character models may be a bit bland, the scope of the game is impressive. It almost brings that sense of awe I had when I first started gaming. You always have an option, or a sense of freedom, when playing this game which is nothing new, but the way it's done is great. There are some flaws though, like the third person view. It is a bit and the animation doesn't look like it flows well in that mode. But even so, the gameplay manages to awe many.
When I took my first steps into the world I was immediately impressesed by the view distance. You can see the devastated landscape for seemingly miles on end. I couldn't wait to explore it. I walked a bit out from the vault and was thrown into action, that quick. I was suddenly attacked by "Raiders". These guys attacked like they were wild dogs, I like how they were made. It made me feel like I was in a serious struggle. I began to fight my way up an over pass and killed a raider that had a sniper rifle. My gun of choice in any game, so I just hit jackpot. I fought on a bit more and what do you know, I killed a raider that had a flamethrower, hah. Maybe it was luck on my part, but I was getting good guns from the start.
This game does a good job of keeping me on the edge too. Not from fear of losing all my ammo, but the thought of something constantly following me and how savage the enemy attacks. But the gore in this game is a bit of a turn off for me. I could do with out that. But seriously, if you liked Oblivion even a little, this is for you. If you like character developement and world exploration, this is for you. Even if you just like blowing enemies up, this is for you. This game doesn't disappoint, I recommend this.
